THE HIPAA PRIVACY
RULE:
A NURSING FACILITY MANUAL
This comprehensive, practical manual is
currently being sold in Ohio through the Ohio
Health Care Association and nationally by the

and Aric Martin.
In designing this manual, we have sought to
provide an actual working tool that nursing homes
can use to achieve compliance with the Health
Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of
1996's (HIPAA) Privacy Rule. The manual consists of
an executive summary of the salient features of the
HIPAA Privacy Rule that can be used to bring all
department heads and managers up to speed on the
basics of what the rule requires. Then we have
provided appendices in which we explain in detailed
"Implementation Summaries" the areas of the rule
summarized in the executive summary. We also
provide numerous sample policies, agreements, and
checklists. The manual is bound in a 3-ring binder
for easy updating.
